Research &
Resources
From guides and trainings, to policymaking and grant opportunities, BLAC offers a wide variety of resources to our constituents and community members.
Organizing Glossary
Community organizing is the process of bringing people together within a community to identify shared issues, mobilize collective action, and advocate for change on a particular set of issues.
At BLAC, we aim to unite Appalachians and allies across the country to address concerns and influence policy decisions that affect those most impacted by various forms of injustice. Acquaint yourself with these common organizing terms to designed to assist with your organizing efforts.
BLAC Policy Paper
Each year, BLAC publishes a policy paper to call attention to and advocate for policies that address systemic inequities in environmental, economic, and racial justice across Appalachia.
At BLAC, we understand that community voices, rooted in historical and ongoing experiences of trauma, are central to the development of policies around issues like environmental degradation, economic exclusion, and healthcare disparities.
Narrative & Storytelling Toolkit
The Building Power Through Storytelling and Narrative Toolkit offers a scaffolding for us to stay centered in the future we are reimagining. This toolkit is a guide for organizations and communities that are leading transformative efforts and are interested in harnessing the power of storytelling in their advocacy efforts.
We hope the information contained in this toolkit makes policy work accessible for communities of all sizes across the country.
