Equitable
Investments
Check out how BLAC is building power in Black communities across the Ohio River Valley, Basin, and Appalachia through equitable access to federal funding.
Meet Your Federal Grants Navigator
Shana your Federal Grants Navigator. Born and raised in south-central Kentucky, she learned the power of collective action and resistance through her grandparents’ stories of navigating the Jim Crow era and Civil Rights Movement.
Shana’s twenty-year career spans domestic violence advocacy, mental health counseling, housing justice, and higher education. Through managing federal grants and grassroots organizing, she has seen how resource distribution can transform communities when put in the right hands.
As a Federal Grants Navigator with the Black Appalachian Coalition (BLAC), Shana combines grant management expertise with deep community relationships to ensure federal resources reach historically excluded communities. Together, we can transform individual victories into lasting systemic change that builds a more just and equitable region.
