The Black Appalachian Coalition’s mission is to use storytelling as a strategy and a precursor to policymaking, building collective power to reclaim our communities, reshape systems, and drive transformative, cross-sector justice across Appalachia and the Ohio River Basin. As a Black women-led organization, BLAC is leading a bold movement beyond equity toward true justice and equality, rooted in reclamation, resistance, and the power of our narratives.

The richness of the region is a collective story that leaves no one behind, but it builds collective power and perseverance, building the pathway for equity and justice.

Your support helps The Black Appalachian Coalition amplify Black voices, dismantle the colonized narrative of the region, and use story-based strategies to drive solutions that center the voices and lived experiences of Black Appalachians.
