Solidarity Ride
Inspired by ‘Freedom Rides’ from the 1960s, BLAC convenes environmental justice leaders to ride together to build collective power, celebrate hope, and give back to the community.
The goal of BLAC’s Solidarity Rides is to form lasting alliances and amplify equitable solutions to achieve environmental justice wins.
Energy Democracy
BLAC supports a growing movement of frontline organizations redefining the clean energy revolution to not only address climate change, but also the legacy of economic and social injustices that are integral to the extractive economy. In collaboration with partners like Emerald Cities Collaborative, BLAC promotes organizing tools for community leaders to advance policies and projects that sustain the goals of energy democracy in their communities, hold policymakers accountable, and shift resources to frontline leadership.
Appalachia
Deserves The Freedom To Breathe.
The Freedom to Breathe campaign amplifies Black voices and those of directly impacted people, whose experiences have long been silenced by environmental injustices. It challenges polluters, holds industries accountable, and fights for healing, equity, and the healthy communities we all deserve. More than a campaign, Freedom To Breathe is a movement uniting leaders, allies, and marginalized communities in solidarity against pollution and systemic racism.
Fighting for Environmental Justice
We advocate for policies that address systemic inequities in environmental, economic, and racial justice across Appalachia.
Our objective is to engage in healing-centered advocacy, ensuring that community voices, rooted in historical and ongoing experiences of trauma. At BLAC, we understand that our lived experiences are central to the development of policies around issues like environmental degradation, economic exclusion, and healthcare disparities.
