The Black Appalachian Coalition (BLAC) empowers Black communities in Appalachia to reclaim their health and advocate for racial, economic, environmental, and gender justice. By prioritizing storytelling as a precursor to policy making, we amplify the voices and lived experiences of Black Appalachians to challenge and dismantle harmful narratives that perpetuate systemic inequities. Through collective action and advocacy, we strive to protect our children and families, foster community resilience, and create a sustainable future where all can thrive.

Our mission is to confront systemic inequalities, combat environmental and economic injustices, and amplify the voices of those too often unheard. Rooted in the resilience of our ancestors, we are building a future where every community has the opportunity to thrive in dignity, sustainability, and collective power.
